Weathering steel, that is, atmospheric corrosion-resistant steel, is a low-alloy steel series between ordinary steel and stainless steel. Compared with ordinary carbon steel, weathering steel has better corrosion resistance in the atmosphere.

Weathering steel is often used in riveted and welded structural parts for vehicles, containers, buildings and other structures. When used as welded structural parts, the thickness of the steel is less than 16 mm. The welding performance of weathering steel for welded structure is better than that of high weathering structural steel, and it is used for welded structural parts of bridges and buildings.

Compared with ordinary carbon steel, weathering steel has better corrosion resistance in the atmosphere. Compared with ordinary stainless steel, weathering steel is rich in trace alloying elements, such as phosphorus, copper, nickel, vanadium, titanium, etc., alloying elements The total amount is only a few percent of the total content, while stainless steel can reach more than ten percent, so the price is cheaper than ordinary stainless steel.
