I. Working Principle
The key point of Floating Method Glass Production is that the glass liquid is floating on the surface of metal tin liquid, so as to spread out and polishing. During this process, the glass liquid always contacts with tin liquid, so the quality of tin liquid has a lot of effect on the glass. Researches show that the tin residue left on the surface of glass is related to the pollution of tin liquid. During the normal process of glass production, a certain amount of N2+H2 protective gas will be let in to protect the tin liquid from pollution; however, the pollution could never be eliminated thoroughly. First, the production technique requires that the tin bath has many operating holes, the oxygen pressure inside and outside the bath constantly push oxygen gas into the bath. Second, the glass liquid itself brings hazardous substance to tin liquid. Data show that the glass can separate out CO2 0.005cm3/g, H2O 0.65cm3/g, SO2 0.9cm3/g and O2 0.4cm3/g. When liquid glass flow from the smelter to the tin bath, its original environment changes, so a lot of hazardous gas would be released to pollute the tin liquid.
The tin bath slaggingoff machine and linear motor tin liquid agitating device used in floating method glass production line are two of our company's selfdeveloped devices to improve the glass molding quality. Our linear motor tin liquid agitating device has obtained China National Practical New-type Patent.
Distinguished by the installation parts, there are two kinds of motors, the former linear motor which is the tin liquid agitating device, and tin bath exit linear motor which is the slagging-off machine.
Our company's LBSKIII type tin bath linear motor tin liquid agitating device is used to push the tin liquid through electromagnetic thrust caused by the moving magnetic field, and under the oriented electromagnetic thrust, the tin liquid will flow in an oriented, adjustable and constant speed way. The effect of convection will let the tin liquid in the tin bath to be agitated evenly, and the temperature of the tin bath hightemperature area and the low temperature area can be of the same level, so the quality of glass after molding will be improved.
Our company's LBSK-3 type linear motor of floating method glass production line is used to slag the tin dross at the tail of tin bath, so it's also named slagging-off machine. The whole device is composed of the motor, transformer and control system. When it is using, the motor is installed on the special designed slagging auriculate bath in two sides of the tin bath tail, through the electromagnetic thrust caused by the moving magnetic field, the tin liquid will flow in an oriented, adjustable and constant speed way, and the slagging-off machine in the tin bath tail will constantly slag off the tin ashes to the auriculate bath, so to keep the tin liquid surface clean and bright; the tin dross will be slagged off after it has gathered a certain amount.

III. System Components
The linear motor systems consist of the motor, cooling system, special pressure adjustment system, control system and accessories etc. Different working parts have corresponding installation method and structure. Such as the slagging-off machine should have corresponding auriculate bath and ashes cleaning outlet installed; for the tin liquid agitating device, our company employ small supporting dollies to save space.
The slagging-off machine consist of: 2 sets of inducing method machine, 1 set of electric control cabinet, 2 set of special using transformer, water knockout drum and pipe hoop.
The linear motor tin liquid agitating system consist of 2 sets of motor, 2 sets of special using transformer, 1 set of control cabinet and 2 supporting dollies etc.
The configuration and design of the whole system conforms to China nation GB standards and the related IEC standards. Also the configuration and design of the control cabinet comply with the principles of anti-interference. The protection degree of the control cabinet is IP54.
IV. Working Principle and Device Features
The main functions of the slagging-off machine is to clear tin ashes in the bath. During the process of floating glass method to spread out and polish the glass, it always has contact with tin liquid, so the quality of tin liquid has a lot of effect on the glass. During the normal process of glass production, a certain amount of N2+H2 protective gas will be let in to protect the tin liquid from pollution; however, the pollution could never be eliminated thoroughly. First, the glass liquid itself brings hazardous substance to tin liquid, such as CO2, H2O, SO2 and O2. Second, the observing holes and the tin bath tail constantly have air penetrated in. Operators all know that the existence of tin ashes is the core reason of tin residual, but general methods can't clear them out thoroughly, especially those in the triangle region under the glass pane. The principle of inducing method ash slagging-off machine is to impose the tin liquid with oriented thrust, so to lead tin ashes to the auriculate bath at both sides. Through blind holes, clean tin liquid flow back to the tin bath while the ashes are left over. This slagging off technique is the most advanced method at present, its main features are as follows:
1. It has large action range; tin ashes on the tin liquid surface and under the glass pane both can be cleaned out.
2. It can be done before working, so to clean and polish the whole tin path.
3. During normal process, the tin liquid surface is clean and without ashes in the low temperature area.
4. Its slagging-off ability has large action range, it can be adjusted freely, so to adapt different producing conditions, such as the leader, plate changing and accidents etc.
5. The slagging-off machine has no moving parts, so it's steady while running, and need not to maintain during one working period.
The linear motor tin liquid agitating device is indispensable while producing thin and high quality glass. Its main function is to cause controllable crosswise tin liquid flow. This kind of flow will do to the surface of glass such an effect like "dab", so the tiny uneven points on the surface can be eliminated and to let the temperature in the polishing area even. To use linear motor is very effective to reduce the glass' optical distortion. Linear motor tin liquid agitating device used in floating method glass' automatic production line can produce glass with 0.5 - 25mm thickness. It can reduce the thickness differences between ultra-thin and ultra-thick glass during production, so to improve the glass' surface quality.
The linear motor employs water shell and refractories overall protection. It has very few soldering point in its inside copper pipe; thickened round copper pipe increase its ability to take overload, so to extend its lifetime. Imported high quality silicon steel plate, the innovative cooling system and the imported organosilicons & natural mica heat-resistant insulating materials, all these materials greatly improve the motor's insulation level. The new type refractories patented by Luoyang Institute of Refractories Research are employed to make shell of the linear motor, so its fire resistant level and working life time is greatly improved; Our unique three strands water in and out design is very convenient for on-site maintenance; The whole linear motor body is installed on the supporting dolly, so it can be easily draw out and push in to the tin bath, and it can also be lift up and down freely. Our advanced system design can achieve one control cabinet aims at on linear motor, so it's easy to operate. All our electrical elements used in the electric control systems are of domestic famous brands, so it effectively guarantees the reliability of the electric control system.
