The bacteria can produce two major toxins, namely endotoxin (parasitic crystals) and exotoxins, causing the pests to stop feeding, and finally pests die of hunger and poisoning. Therefore, the bacillus can be used as a low-toxicity microbial insecticide for controlling orthoptera, coleoptera, diptera, hymenoptera, especially lepidopteran pests.
